Hola todos,
This week has been a good one! The boys had surf class in the mornings so it was just Matias, Sora and me and I usually hide in my until around 11:00. I wish I could say I was asleep until then but usually I am awake and avoiding the children. I eat breakfast and then spend time with Matias. We play random games and watch "Let it go" on YouTube dozens of times. He doesn't seen to want to watch any other song but oh well. Sora makes lunch for him and sometime surprises me with lunch and then he takes a nap. The older boys come home and eat lunch and then we each spend 30-60 minutes in my room for English class. Lately we have been watching whatever videos they want (in English) and talking during the commercials or I will just ask stupid pointless questions while they are watching. I attempt to speak English as much as possible but life is much more enjoyable when the boys aren't yelling/kicking/hitting/telling me I'm boring, so YouTube is my savior. Usually after class we go to the pool and this week Moni has been home around 5 when we go so I get to tan and relax, which is nice.
I've taken up running even though I really don't like to run. It is an easy way (excuse) to get out of the house, exercise and explore my surroundings. It has felt really good and although it's a lot harder than it was in high school, I'm proud of my sub ten minute mile. Today was a long day of 5 miles and I made it and felt good after! I don't know if my new found joy in running will continue when I get home but either way it has been really helpful for my sanity.
I met a new friend, Heidi. She is an au pair from Illinois and we have a lot in common. She is the only au pair I've met that I can see myself being friends with, now and in the future. We met close to my house got some coffee and chatted a bunch. We also got some bread, meat and grapes and had a picnic on the beach. We were together for over three hours and there were lulls in the conversation but it was never awkward. I'm thankful for this new friendship as I finish my time here.
I'm getting excited for my au pair experience to end but am dreading leaving a country I love so much.
Sending love to everyone!
Ciao!!
Un beso muy fuerte!
