So let me tell you about the house I live in.
It is four stories and is nestled between other houses with a tiny backyard that I kid you not has green turf for the kids to play on. SO WEIRD! Anyways, the lowest floor goes down to the garage and the garage is underground and they share the space with all the other houses next to them so they have to back through this tunnel that is also underground to get out of the space. It seems like such a hassel to park. The main floor is where the kitchen and living room are. The kitchen is small and it has a four person table in it too. There is a bathroom and then a living room that also has a dining room table in it. They have tons and tons of books and pictures everywhere. Manuel really likes superheros so there are comics everywhere as well. The next floor up is the boy's room, my room, Sora's room and a bathroom. The three boys share the biggest room but it definitely wont fit them forever. They have a really cool bunkbed that is like a trundle so it sleeps three. They also have a huge wrap around desk shelf thing for their toys. It is straight out of pbteen or ikea for sure! My room has the futon where I sleep a lamp and a tv with a tv stand full of more books and comics. I also have a terrace so that is really nice! I asked her for tape so I could put my pictures of you all up on my closet like I did in SanSe but she misunderstood me and brought home a corkboard. So I have them all pinned up now!
The bathroom is pretty normal. One toilet, one shower/bath and two sinks. And the room Sora sleeps in I believe has a bathroom as well. She has an ironing board permantely in there and a tv and a bed.
The top floor is Maunel and Moni's room. I went in their once but did not notice anything too special.
I am not getting a very balanced diet here. For breakfast the kids have a "batido especial" which is chocolate teddy grahams and milk warmed up in the microwave and then drank from a straw. EW. Then I have no idea what they eat for lunch. For dinner we have had spaghetti cooked with an egg, twice. We have also had chicken, and fish. Instead of fish Sora gave me rice:) I am craving some vegetables. I went to the market today on the way to the library and bought a banana and wow it was so great. I want to go shopping with them and try to get some actual food that will sustain me! I need some veggies! They do have these really good cookies though that remind me of blue bag chips ahoy which I love. They are not flat like cookies though its like the cookie part is on the outside and then on the inside is the chocolate chips. I have definitely eaten way too many of them in the last two days...
I have also eaten a few of my Spain faves while out and about. I had cafe con leche and a napolatina and some tortilla of course! I will have to say my tortilla that I make at home has been better than both the tortillas I have tried so far. I really think the jalapenos are what make it so great. Thanks MariMar!
Tomorrow I am meeting two other au pairs to take a Spanish class. I have no idea what it will be like but I guess I will find out in the coming weeks. It will be nice to make friends.
I am looking forward to exploring the city more as well!
