Hello everyone!
This has been a wonderfully sunny week! The temperature is around 80 degrees everyday so I never want to go inside the pool but I'm enjoying the tanning for sure!
Moni was shocked to hear that I can't swim. I told her that the most I could really do is doggie paddle and she was utterly shocked. I'm happy for this because before I told her that she said that I had to play in the pool with the kids. I was not about that. Ain't nobody gonna make me swim if I don't want to. (Snaps fingers three times.) Going to the pool is an interesting experience. All the families sit near each other and all the house keepers sit together and no doubt gossip about their bosses and kids. I sit by myself because I don't belong with either group. I sit without music or books because I'm supposed to be watching the kids even though Sora is there as well as a lifeguard. Although the lifeguards are terrible, they sit on their phones and occasionally tell someone to stop doing something Sora makes sure to tell at me if the kids do anything bad even if it's out of my control and unstoppable. The kids don't listen to me anyways so it's stupid and if I wasn't getting so tan it would be a miserable experience.
Other than the wonderful weather, the kids have been okay this week. It seems for every good day we have we have two really bad days to make up for it. I try a different approach for teaching English almost everyday and Lucas is doing very well but the other two I can't say the same for. Nico never wants to do anything that I have planned for him. He wants to play in the backyard and talk English but there are only so many words you say while playing soccer. It is really frustrating because yesterday he just sat there for a whole hour not saying a word in English or Spanish because he was mad he had to go first. Side note, I started separating them for "class" now we each go in my room for a half hour and do English activities. Their sticker charts are kind of working and they all reached their first present.
Anyways, Nico was so mad about going first but Lucas was sick and asleep and Matias was napping so there was no one else to go. Sora called Moni and Moni told me to let Nico go after the other two. They never are punished for their bad behavior. It is annoying. I had to waste a whole afternoon sitting on the floor in my room because an 8 year old was being a baby. Oh well!
They say the key to someone's heart is through food and I think that is correct. The only time I don't think Sora hates my guts is when we are talking about food or cooking. If she has made enough food she usually gives me some but if she doesn't or it's something I don't want I make something different than the kids. No matter what Sora takes over in some way. I obviously know nothing about cooking. She didn't like the way I cooked broccoli so she showed me her way. She fries everything so I really try to eat different and fresher things but it's hard with what groceries are in the house. She did let me cook tacos all by myself and wanted to learn how to do it. Her and Moni loved them and I was so happy to have flour tortillas back in my life.
Having wifi have been so nice. I've been staying up a little later than usual because I can finally talk to friends and family during their day but I will gladly give up a little sleep for a chat with a loved one.
Today I went I to the city. Walking around downtown Coruña is my favorite thing to do here! So much to see and eat and drink. I thought I found iced coffee today but it was actually hot with just a lot of whip cream on top so I asked for a cup of ice and I made some myself and it was wonderful.
This weekend we are going back to the beach house and then on Monday we are going to Santiago to Manu's parents house for a party. Tuesday is a fiesta day called "San Juan." It is a huge festival of bonfires on the beach and I am excited to experience it.
Have a good weekend!!
Love from Spain!
