HELLOOOOOO!!!!!
Today is day 14 of being gone. Let me tell you, it has been a busy 13 days! Busy, but SO great.
I'll start with day one. I arrived at the Indianapolis airport at 5:45 on Sunday, July 5th. I grabbed my bags and waited for Jessi's flight to get in. After she got her bags we picked up our rental car. We drove to the hotel and met the other five girls who had already arrived. We went to dinner at a place called Bub's Burgers. They have an eating challenge called "THE BIG UGLY" and long story short, I'm going to try to do it by the end of the summer. It is a one pound burger with a huge half pound bun. I doubt I'll be able to do it but I'm gonna try because it is going to be HILARIOUS. All the other girls are going to come cheer me on and if I do eat all of it I'll get my picture on the wall! Bub's is in Carmel, where we technically live, which is a smaller town North of Indianapolis. It is super nice and super cute.
The first three days of the week were spent in the office. We got our desks, work computers, name tags, mailboxes and a bagel breakfast with all the headquarters staff. We have a schedule for training for the rest of the summer so we know exactly what we are doing each day. We had a few meetings and learned how to work our emails and special programs we need to use during our travels. On Tuesday we had a BBQ for the other consultants in the area. We had just over a 100 people show up and had a great time chatting it up and eating way too many cookies.
Thursday morning half of us headed East to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the Emma Coleman Frost Leadership Development Institute. I drove through the entire state of Ohio, a little bit of the tip of West Virginia and into Pennsylvania to a town called Cranberry where our hotel was. We spent the long weekend training for facilitating and then facilitating our small groups of women from all over the North East. It was a blast. I learned so much and the women in my group were awesome. I had a partner facilitator, Jackie, who was super awesome to work with as well. My 23rd birthday also fell on the Friday of LDI so I got to spend my birthday with over 160 sisters! We had training the morning of my birthday so during lunch the facilitators sang happy birthday to me and brought me a piece of chocolate mousse. The online store Crimson Collections was there so I bought myself a pretty new necklace for my birthday present to myself. That night all the women arrived and we had a big group ending session and it was someone else's birthday too so the entire group of women sang happy birthday to us and it was magical! Saturday was a full day of facilitating and then Sunday was the big goodbye. We drove around Pittsburgh and had lunch in South Side. It was a nice afternoon and then we drove back home to Carmel.
Monday we went back to work but right before lunch a huge storm blew in and the power went out in the office! I was kind of freaking out because the storm was really intense. Half the power ended up working and half of it didn't so some of the lights worked and half the electrical outlets had power and the rest of the building didn't. We got to go home early so we all worked out and went on walks and enjoyed the nice weather after the storm had blew over. Tuesday morning we all woke up and were at breakfast when our boss Christy called and told us that the power was still out so not to come to the office until noon. We all went back to sleep for a few hours until we got another message saying we didn't have to come in at all!
We ended up driving to downtown Indianapolis. It was nice to see the city and walk around a little. We also walked around downtown Carmel until it started raining. Wednesday the power was still out but we had to go in for a photo shoot. Then Christy came to our hotel and did a couple hours of work with us.
Thursday morning the three other girls that didn't go to Pittsburgh left for Kansas City for their LDI weekend. The girls that were left, Jessi, Kiley, Aubrey and myself ( I call us the Pittsburgh Pirates) went to a video shoot for a promotional video ASA is shooting. We traveled all around the campus of IUPUI-Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis and Butler University. It was really fun to be in a video and get to fake talk and fake be a student. I called myself extra #1 and had way too much fun being in the background of all the shots. I can't wait to see the finished product. We missed dinner at our hotel so we went to a place called McAlister's and had some dinner. We ended up staying there for a few hours just talking and enjoying the warm summer night.
Friday we didn't have to work or do anything so we slept in forever! I worked out, took a shower and got ready for the evening. We went to dinner at a place called Hopcat which was delicious! It is on a street called Broad Ripple where there are tons of restaurants, bars and shops to go to. We met some friends at a piano bar and had a really fun night!
Saturday we were pretty tired from the night out so we slept in and relaxed most of the day until we went to downtown Carmel to meet one of Kiley's family friends. We had a great time talking to our new friend Jen! Carmel was also hosting a wine festival which only happens once a year. There were 15 wineries there and a lot of local people were out and about.
We also have a new consultant that just got hired so Jessi, Aubrey and I went to go pick her up. Her flight kept getting delayed so when we finally got her back and settled it was around 11:00 and we all went to bed!!
Today I had breakfast pizza and it was AMAZING. I'm going to the gym then we are going to go shopping and hit a cool new pizza place for dinner tonight.
Hopefully it wont be this long in between blog posts after this but anyways, I LOVE IT HERE. I love my job and new friends! I am so happy!
I miss Boise and all my family and friends but I will see you in no time!
xoxo
Ciao ciao for now
