Howdy y'all!
I am sitting on a chair in a room called "The Buffalo Room," at the campus of West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas. Go Buffs! (Side note I had to ask what a Buff was because I didn't realize it was just a shortened version of Buffalo.) The women of the Theta Rho chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha are setting up for recruitment. It took me 20 minutes to connect to the wifi on campus so I could do some work and blog but after a lot of clicking, troubleshooting, emailing and LinkedIn checking, I am here to tell you about my adventures so far.
First of all, the last week of work was wonderful! We thought we would be really funny by matching our outfits everyday. Monday was all black everything day. Tuesday was twin day, Aubrey and I have the exact same red and white polka dot pants and we are the only blonde ones so we killed it. Wednesday was white day. Thursday was striped dress day and then trivia day. Friday was matching sweatshirt day! We thought we were hilarious. I don't think staff really thought we were but it was fun anyways! Everyone was really antsy and really excited to leave all week! Saying goodbye was really sad and hard for me! I already miss my LC friends and everyone at headquarters!
Friday I attempted the "Big Ugly Challenge" which if you haven't heard, is a one pound burger challenge. I told the LC's I would do it the first day we got to Carmel and I couldn't back out. Sooooo, after work on Friday we went to Bub's and I ordered the Big Ugly. I started right in on it and ate a little more than half before I decided I had to tap out. I definitely could have eaten more, but I could NOT chew any more burger. It was so gross after the first half. I was sad I didn't finish the challenge but I knew that if I had continued I would have probably died. Okay, maybe not died but I would not be the same person I am today.
The rest of the weekend was filled with packing, ice cream, goodbyes and movie marathons. Thank you Jesus for ABC movie marathons!
I left the Staybridge at 5:00 am for the airport. My flight left at 6:35 am and LUCKILY my bags were not over weight!! I landed in Dallas then took another flight to Amarillo, Texas. I arrived around 10:30 in the morning. I slept through both flights and woke up startled when we landed! Nanna, the chapter advisor for Theta Rho picked me up and took me to her house. We had lunch and the president of Theta Rho took me to campus to stay in my first ever ~DoRm~ So exciting I know! I have my own desk, dressser, closet, couch, tv, mini fridge, microwave, bathroom and bed. It is great and right on campus so I can get around easily! The women in this chapter are goofy and hilarious! I think they like me, but also I'm not sure because I made them change some stuff for their recruitment!! Their chapter is small but they are all fierce friends which makes me super happy and excited for them to be joined by more sisters this weekend after recruitment! Texas in general I like! I am very happy to be in DRY heat again and out of the humidity. It has been sunny and in the 90's while I've been here so it has been great! The only downside is that I am always in business attire and that is usually a little more clothes than I like to wear in the sunshine. So sadly I won't be getting tan here but I still have enjoyed the weather. There is a place called Pure Leaf and it is a little business that just has a dozen different flavors of tea! They also have the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever eaten in my life. I have been there almost every single day I have been here so I'm quite obsessed as are all the ladies here. I usually get a green tea lemonade mix and two chocolate chip cookies so I've definitely been treating myself this week.
Recruitment started last night and ends on Saturday. I have been having a great time here in Texas for my first visit! I am so excited to go to Colorado on Sunday though!!
Ciao ciao for now!
xoxo
