Another week, another lesson learned. I love this job because I am seriously ALWAYS learning. It is awesome as well as tiring. This week the biggest lesson I learned was how important the skill of listening is. I have always thought myself to be a good listener. I care about what my friends and family have to say. I remember random facts about people when they tell me. I remember birthdays, phone numbers and favorite things. I enjoy listening to people and learning about them....but...I ALSO LOVE TO TELL STORIES. I love talking, about anything really. I'm sure sometimes I am annoying, but I just really like to tell people things. I love going back and forth with people and learning more about them and teaching them about me. In this job I have noticed that most people don't want to know too much about me. These women want to tell me their story, they want to share their point of view and their feelings. It is great but I have to remind myself to stop responding with a story of my own. I've been working on just listening, just asking questions and just learning about all these new people. It has been a great experience and there have been a few times when I've gotten to share a really fun story with someone!
This is my last week in Grand Junction until I come back in October! We had elections last night so this week is full of officer meetings and transitions. I'm hoping to get a hike in here one of these days too! We should be getting new members this week and I am going to a football game so that is exciting. Their stadium is as big as my high school stadium so it should be interesting to see how the games differ from my college experience!
Speaking of football, I am still salty about the tough loss Boise State had to BYU, but OH WELL.
I am getting excited to visit CSU Pueblo next week and get to go to a football game there as well! I also get to see my "little sister" from ASA at BSU, Dani when I fly to Denver! She is going to pick me up and drive me to Pueblo so that is going to be super fun to see her and catch up!
41 days until I will be back in the beautiful Boise!! I am getting too excited!!
Hope everyone is doing well!!
Ciao ciao for now!
