Hey!!!
I am blogging for the last time in a while because I am
officially leaving to go home in a few hours! I am so excited to go back to
beautiful Boise, Idaho! Before I go I wanted to talk about my last two weeks!
On Friday, the 11th, Sydney picked me up in
Conway, Arkansas and we drove 4 hours to Pittsburg, Kansas. It was so super
amazing to see her after a year and a half away from each other. We had the
best drive talking and catching up on life. Sydney is a big reason I decided to
apply to be a leadership consultant and one of my biggest supporters throughout
my time traveling. She is one of my role models and someone I really look up to
so I was beyond happy to get to hang out for the weekend. We drove to her home and
met her soon to be husband, Jacob. We all went to dinner and had my favorite,
PIZZA, then went back to the house and watched some crime show thing. It was
great and sort of funny to watch.
The next morning we leisurely got up and went to The Root,
which is a new local coffee shop that Sydney’s friends own. She works there as
a barista and runs their social media. It is a really cool space with AMAZING
CHAI TEA and delicious cinnamon rolls. We got ready for the day and then headed
to Kansas City. On the way we stopped at a few places. First we went to a gorilla statue outside their football stadium and obviously had a photo shoot. Sydney also took me to buy a Pitt State t-shirt and it is red and yellow with a gorilla on it and it is perfect. I can't wait to wear it andr ep some Pitt State pride. After this we headed to“Joe’s Kansas City Barbeque,” WHICH
WAS a GAS STATION THAT SELLS BARBEQUE AND a ZILLION PEOPLE WERE IN LINE AT 3 IN
THE AFTERNOON! I was perplexed because it was a GAS STATION. Gas stations are
not supposed to have good food. They are not supposed to have a huge line to
get something. I was so confused. I asked Sydney as we decided to NOT wait in
line if “this is the best food on earth????” So next we went to a different Joe’s,
one that was not as crowded and actually was a restaurant. I will admit the
food was delicious. Sydney and I shared the “burnt ends lunch platter,” that
she told me was delicious and melts in your mouth. Again, I was confused, how
could burnt food MELT IN YOUR MOUTH. Kansas is a strange place…. Anyways, we
had our burnt ends and they did indeed melt in my mouth. Almost too melty to be
honest. The fries were good, the atmosphere was fun and the experience was
great. After this we went to a store that everything was 5 dollars or less.
OKAY FANCY DOLLAR STORE. I bought an "adult coloring book" which sounds weird but basically it is just a really fancy and intricate floral coloring book.I haven't used it yet because I need to buy some colored pencils. I also bought a new phone charger and a HARRY POTTER CHOCOLATE FROG COMPLETE WITH HAGRID CARD. All for less than 12 dollars.
WHAT A DEAL, AMIRITE???
We headed to Sydney's friends house for her party. It was a wedding shower for both the future bride and groom so it was really fun! We played a few games, ate from a delicious baked potato chili bar and I even go to watch the Boise State game. All of her friends are hilarious and super nice. I didn't know anyone but I never felt out of place or bored or anything. It was so wonderful to be hanging out with people and enjoying time away from work for a weekend! I was super sad to leave Sydney on Sunday afternoon but I will see her in just a few months at her wedding!! SO EXCITING!
On Sunday afternoon, Sydney's friends Emily & Mark, drove me to St. Joseph, Missouri. I met with the president and headed straight to meetings! It was a long afternoon finished with dinner at Panera with the president. After dinner I got my dorm all situated and went to bed. The next morning I woke up and put a face mask on before I showered. The resident life guy came to give me a key to the dorms so I had to sign and date a paper while I had this clear ish goopy junk on my face. I'm sure he thought I was super weird, but also working in residence life, I'm sure he has seen his fair share of weird things but I was still embarrassed!
It was homecoming week at Missouri Western State University so each night there was an activity for the chapter to go to. I went to a few events but mostly stayed in the library and did work and had meetings before retreating to my dorm. I went to a lip sync competition, a 90's cartoon trivia competition where they slimed the losers and a pep rally. It was fun to go to homecoming events for another school and it is always interesting to me looking at the difference between the small universities I've been visiting and my campus experience at Boise State.
I had a wonderful time hanging out with the women of Zeta Mu even though they were busy with homecoming. I think I may have scared some members with my enthusiasm and competitiveness while playing heads up but oh well.
On Saturday I headed back to Colorado Mesa. I arrived and spent the day doing laundry and re packing my suitcase as well as picking out all my outfits for the week while I watched gossip girl and ate pizza. It was truly wonderful.
Sunday I got to sleep in and then go to meetings for most of the day. Some members made me a welcome back sign and clapped when I walked in the room. It made me feel so happy and excited to be back.
The week was filled with lots of meetings, honestly my throat is sore from TALKING SO MUCH. It has been great. I feel like this chapter is my chapter away from home. I have made the most relationships with women in this chapter and I feel like I know the town and the school pretty well.
It was a weird week for everyone, just that time of the year I suppose.I am coming back in two weeks so I will see everyone again soon, but maybe for the last time! We don't have our schedules yet and I don't know if I will be the LC to visit them next semester!!
Today I finished my last couple meetings, sent in my reports for the week and submitted my time sheet for vacation. I am visiting a few members setting up for their formal tonight and then I am heading home!!
I am so excited to be in Boise in just a few hours!!!!!!!
Ciao ciao for now!
